盼望着，盼望着，东风来了，春天的脚步近了。在春天的三月就该学习有关春天的英语。不过这时可能有人会说，春天的英语不就是 spring 吗？但是吉米老师想说：spring 可不一定是春天呐！
Spring to mind：突然想起
先来看看这个短语 spring to mind，是把春天装进脑子里了吗？乍一看好像还挺浪漫，但实际意思毫不沾边。因为这里的 spring 还有表示突然，猛然触动的意思，某事浮现在某人脑海中的英语，和 mind 组合成短语就有突然想起...脑中突然浮现...，
spring to mind 还有另外的表达：come/leap to mind，也是同样有突然想起的意思。
例句
I just used the first excuse which sprang to mind.
我只是想到一个借口就说出来了。
I didn't mean to offend you. I just said the first thing that came to/into my mind.

It occurs/occurred to sb. that …… 是英语中较为常用的句式，其意为“某人突然想起某事”。

strike是 ”敲打” 的意思，由此引申出”某人突然想起/感到”。

dawn 作名词是“拂晓”、“黎明”的意思， 作动词则是“开始变得，突然意识到...”

spring a leak
spring还有泉水，水的意思，leak表示出现裂缝，泄露，因此spring a leak就表示漏水的意思，特别是在出现漏缝后开始漏水的情况。
例句
The pipe sprang a leak.
管道突然漏水了。
Meanwhile the paper bag sprang a leak and began to fill.
同时，那个纸袋突然漏了，水开始往里灌了。
spring a surprise
spring a surprise 突然给你一个惊喜，也就是突然说一些事，冷不丁地做一些事情，出人意料的，不在意料的范围内就可以说spring a surprise。

spring a trap
在用spring a trap的时候，经常与on一起连用，意为设置圈套用以捕捉罪犯等。

spring除了有以上的春天，泉水，突然发生的含义之外，还有表示弹跳的意思，那它与其他表示跳跃的词语有什么区别呢：
jump 是普通用词，指用双脚向上跳，向下跳，或在同一平面上跳到有一定距离的某一点上，或跳过。
The cat jumped [=leaped] (up) onto the table.
那只猫跳上了桌子。
leap 常可与 jump 换用，但侧重身体猛力向上升起并朝前急冲的动作，有时含突然的意味。
Fish were leaping out of the water.
鱼跳出水面。
spring 更强调有力和弹跳的运动。
The deer gave a spring and was gone.
这只鹿突然一跃，逃跑了。
hop 指单脚短跳或双足猛力的动作。也指小鸟、青蛙等的跳。
