Phrasal verbs are a combination of one verb and one or two particles,typically can be a preposition or an adverb.

The new expressions has a new meaning that can be different from the original meaning of the verb.

For example,we got the phrasal verb give up as a combination of the verb give and the preposition up,when the meaning of the word give is to provide or offer something.

Phrasal verbs are usually considered to be more informal and conversational than a single verb.

On the contrary,the single verb do here is too informal for academic writing.

The phrasal verb carry out in fact is more appropriate in this situation.

So in short,some phrasal verbs are rather formal and even encouraged to use in IELTS academic writing. to show your range of vocabulary.

Now I'm going to share with you six phrasal verbs and how to use them in your writing.

This phrasal verb has two meanings.
