口诀 : ： 巧记反身动词的用法
解读 ： 一般而言，要求以反身代词作宾语的动词称之为反身动词。新课标中学英语课本中出现的有：hide，seat，engage，dress/ undress，devote，prepare，station，enter 和prove（attach）等等（10个）。使用这些动词时，除了要求用 反身代词作宾语外，还要其它一些共同点。现在就中学课本中出现的用法归纳如下：

一）用反身代词作宾语。例如：Then Hodge took his spear and hid himself behind a tree .皬奇拿了长矛躲在一棵树后。The lessons began and Evalthus proved himself to be a clever student.上课开始了，伊万塞斯以事实证明自己是个聪明的学生。George entered himself for the college entrance examination.乔治报名参加了高考。He wanted to be a physicist and devote himself to abstract research.他想当物理学家，并献身于抽象理论的研究。He entered the room and seated himself at the desk.他走进房间坐在在书桌旁。She engaged herself in teaching.她忙于教学工作。They prepared themselves for hard work . 他们准备干艰苦的工作。
二）都可以用“be + 过去分词”这种系表结构作谓语，以被动形式表示主动意义。例如：They must be hidden among the trees. / When he came in，the guests were all seated waiting for the concert./ Ten soldiers were stationed beside the pole. (= were standing ) / Teams from six countries were entered./ My sister married the man she was engaged to.我姐姐同她订婚的男人结了婚。/ It was not anger ，nor surprise，nor disapproval，nor horror，nor any of the emotions that she had been prepared for . ( SB2P.257)/ The Emperor was then undressed，and the cheats pretended to dress him in his new clothes. (SB1P.119)/ Some of them were devoted to natural science.他们中有些人专门研究自然科学。
三）可以用过去分词短语作状语、定语、表语和主补、宾补表示主动意义。例如：Huck，hidden behind a great rock，listened anxiously. ( SB3P.334) （ 状语 ）What surprised me most was to see some of the village people seated on the benches at the end of the room. ( SB2p.116 ) / We always found him dressed in black. （ 宾补 ）
注意：与反身代词连用的常用动词搭配归纳absent oneself from 缺席avail oneself of 利用 accustom oneself to 热心于adapt oneself to 适应于addict oneself in 沉溺于address oneself to 着手amuse oneself with (by) 以……自娱apply oneself to 致力于bethink oneself of 考虑bend oneself to 热衷于break oneself of 去掉……习惯charge oneself with 承担conceal oneself 藏身concern oneself with 关心；忙于confine oneself to 局限于content oneself 满足curl oneself up 卷曲着身子deliver oneself of 说出devote oneself to 致distinguish oneself by 因……而出名dress oneself in 穿着engage oneself in 从事engage oneself to 同……订婚enjoy oneself 过得愉快excuse oneself 辩解exert oneself 努力familiarize oneself with 精通flatter oneself 自认为free oneself of 摆脱give oneself to 热衷于help oneself to 随意吃indulge oneself in 沉迷于lose oneself in 入迷occupy oneself with 从事oppose oneself to 反对perfect oneself in 使自己精通prepare oneself for 准备present oneself at 出席pride oneself on 以……自豪remove oneself from 离开resign oneself to 听任revenge oneself on 报复rid oneself to 除去seat oneself in (on) 就座throw oneself to 投身于 等等。
