烤鸭可谓是北京的招牌传统菜肴，承载着数百年的历史文化底蕴流传至今，已成为舌尖上不朽的经典。
今天我们就一起来跟China Daily领略美味的烤鸭吧。

动词pair，表示搭配什么东西。在本文语境中，pair就表示烤鸭要佐以……食用。
"Rested on a bed of shredded cucumber，spring onions or radishes"，过去分词rested修饰的对象是前面说的“蘸了甜面酱的the morsels”，所以鸭皮鸭肉蘸过酱之后会铺在黄瓜条、葱丝或者萝卜条上面，a bed of sth，指的就是铺在烤鸭下面的佐料。

片好的烤鸭加上黄瓜条、葱丝或者萝卜条这些佐料，下一步是什么呢？“And wrapped in a bite-sized，wafer-thin crepe ”，再一同卷到一口量、薄如纸的荷叶饼里。
在文章里面 crepe指的是卷烤鸭的荷叶饼，前面有两个复合形容词：
bite-sized：一口可以吃掉的尺寸
wafer-thin：wafer音译过来就是威化饼的威化

Wafer-thin指荷叶饼如威化片一般的薄，中文里形容某物很薄时，我们常常会说它薄如纸。
Taste表示味觉的，tactile表示触觉的，对应感官动词touch。

什么样的experience呢？看到后面的定语从句"most characterizes the sophisticated palate and pragmatism of the city"。
重点看到palate这个词，原本表示上颚，人体的上颚处分布有少量的味蕾，存在味觉感知能力，因此后来palate又引申表示对于美食佳肴的品尝能力或者味觉感知能力，这个词在实际使用中常常会在前面加定冠词the，用来表示人的概念，表示特定类型的食客。
