knock 是敲，door 是门，敲门用 knock the door 看似没什么毛病，但是 knock the door 更偏向撞门，粗暴地撞倒的含义，会给人一种不礼貌的感觉。

knock on wood 在美国意为霉运去，好运来，有一种说法就是当遇上好运时立刻手触木头并说此话，以防厄运并期待好运持续，上天保佑，英式口语也会说成 touch wood.

knock/throw sb for a loop
最开始这个短语的最初的意思是敲你，使你失去知觉。后来演变成使人心烦；使大为惊讶的意思。
